Before there was Floyd Floor Co., there was Paragon Home Builders. Founded by Richard Schoonover, Paragon began as a handyman business. With a sharp eye for detail and a hands-on approach, Richard built a reputation for quality craftsmanship from the ground up—starting with floors.

As demand grew and projects expanded beyond flooring, Richard earned his general contractor’s license and officially launched Paragon Home Builders. Today, Paragon handles everything from full-scale renovations to custom remodels and new construction.

With the real estate market heating up in Floyd, the rise of Airbnb rentals, and a wave of older homes and buildings being updated, Richard saw a growing need for a dedicated flooring retail space in the area. That’s what led to the creation of Floyd Floor Co.—designed to support homeowners, landlords, and builders with a wide selection of flooring options backed by expert knowledge and installation experience.

Still owned and operated by Richard, Paragon is the sister company to Floyd Floor Co. Together, they bring a seamless experience to homeowners—from foundation to finish.
